Today I found this

So folks, if you dont know already i work in reslife at a small liberal arts college. Part of my job is to do vacancy verifications in the residence halls so that new students can move in. This means I have to walk all the halls and key into rooms I suspect have a vacancy for the spring. Today I was doing just that. With my sneakers on and clipboard in hand I walked the empty halls checking rooms off my list.

Then I came to a particular room...and found several things:
A Warhammer painting station

A sizable Warhammer Army

Fake bloody fingers and condoms

I know what you are thinking: that I posed all the Warhammer guys and and set up the fingers and condoms because it was a funny photo op. But no...I did not. This is how I found it.

Then I walked out of the room slowly, not turning my back on the tiny minions...as I didnt know what would happen if I did.

Swagger Duck?

What does this mean? This was the question I had to ask myself when I found it written on my door of my on campus apartment. Today I met the student that wrote this on my door (and all over campus). He said "Well last year my friends told me I swagger like a duck...so it is my nickname". I responded "So you were tagging your name all over campus?" He said" Ummm....I wouldnt call it tagging...well I guess it is"

Um, yeah SwaggerDuck. I dont care about your nickname and dont want you to write it on my door. Thanks. I might have been ok with it if your name was DarkWing Duck. But alas it is not.

Twisted

Earlier in the month I held a craft night for hispanic heritage month. I taught students how to make these:

Most of the students were able to get the hang of it...but some made things that looked like this:

Apparently there are many young adults that lack some fine motor skillz. You would think with all the video games and texting they do they would be a little better...but sadly no.

Internet Glitter

If there was no internet I would not get anything done...or I might get more done (damn you facebook games). But anyway, I have to say that I have recently been impressed with my online skillz as of late. I recently made this website...wait I cant give you the address bc then my secret identity would be revealed. Anway, I made an awesome website with a very user friendly service called weebly.com.

Also, I made a kick ass blog for a professional organization I am a part of. It also includes a forum...which was a huge debate when we were deciding if we should make a blog...some ppl wanted a blog others a forum but they didnt know that what they wanted was a forum. Ps. if you want to have a forum on your blogger go to www.nabble.com and get a free embeddable forum and embed it on one of your blogger pages using the html widget.

Them: "I want a blog where anyone can comment and post"
me: "that would be a forum"
them: "Whatever it is called I want that"
me: "So do you want a blog or a forum"
them: "A blog...where people can post"
me: "Like I said...that is a forum"
them"whatever"
me: "dont worry....i will make all your internet dreams come true with some glitter and pixie dust"

In other "Masters Degree" news my stepmother told me that she is using her two masters degrees to go through a page of online links and make sure that they are still live.

Also, if you want to know what my office is like every day ask me for my co-workers secret blog...I will email it to you if you give me your email address.

Helping students

This morning I got the following email:

HI
I am trying to get your stapler open but it wont budge. How do you open this thing?

(Context: I lent a student my stapler for the weekend so that they could work on their bulletin boards for the residence hall they are an RA for)

This is the email I sent back:

There is a little latch on the side that looks like this (I hope you like my paint drawing…)
